One who goes away. One who does not speak up. One who by not acting gives legitimacy to abuse. Spectators have had a great significance in many historical events, but did they have the opportunity to act and what did the story look like? Despite its importance, the spectator has an obscured role in the history books.
Both in history and today, people are faced with choices that decide whether to become a spectator. Several factors affect the choices we make. Even though most of us would like to act, few choose to intervene. What does it depend on? What psychological factors underlie our actions?
The exhibition also tells a different story. The story of those who refuse to be a spectator and shows that it is possible to make another choice. A choice for humanity and civic courage.
Whatever you choose matters.
